This summer, BFIT’s Big Dreams Summer Camp is hosting an exciting series of Financial Literacy Workshops in partnership with Generational Wealth Educators (GWE) and Y.O.U.T.H. (You Own Unique Talent and Hustle). These workshops are designed to help campers explore money management through fun, themed weekly activities that connect real-life financial concepts with imaginative adventures.
Campers kicked off the summer by learning how to budget for a camping trip. Through interactive exercises, they explored the costs of gear, food, and transportation, gaining an understanding of how to plan for outdoor fun without overspending.
This week focused on budgeting for a dream trip to Disney. Campers built mock vacation budgets, choosing between park tickets, souvenirs, meals, and hotel stays—all while learning to prioritize spending and set savings goals.
Young minds were challenged to apply problem-solving and innovation to real-world financial scenarios. This week emphasized critical thinking, teaching campers how to approach money matters with creativity and confidence.
In this time-travel themed week, students stepped into the shoes of historical figures and imagined how they would budget in different time periods. Campers connected economic history with present-day budgeting skills in a fun and educational way.
Campers wrapped up the series with a charity challenge, learning how to allocate resources to support causes they care about. This week emphasized the power of giving, teaching that smart budgeting can also help others.
Throughout the month, students built lasting money management skills while having fun and dreaming big. These workshops are a key part of BFIT’s commitment to empowering youth with the knowledge and confidence to shape their financial futures.
